Merriam-Webster Vocabulary Builder

Tags: english, vocabulary
For students preparing for standardized tests, including the SAT, ACT, ESL, TOEFL, and TOEIC. Also for homeschoolers and remote learners. Organized by 250 Greek and Latin roots as the building blocks for words, this book will aid in learning 1,200 words while introducing 2,000 more words. Includes quizzes after each root discussion to test progress.
Notes about the deck design:
- A well designed deck of “Merriam-Webster Vocabulary Builder”.
- For each unit, first the ROOT of the words is introduced. (cloze)
- Then WORDS based on the ROOT is introduced. (cloze, reverse)
- At the end of the unit QUIZZES are presented for review. (basic)
- Night Mode!
Cloze Deletions are auto generated using spaCy. (expect weird stuff) ~ https://spacy.io/
Merriam Webster doesn’t use IPA, so all IPA is auto generated using “eng_to_ipa”. ~ https://pypi.org/project/eng-to-ipa/

It differs from the Merriam-Webster Vocabulary Builder deck as in it doesn’t include the “Explanation Text and Word Definition” cloze cards which are rather time consuming.

Xefjord’s Complete Language Series was created with the mission of providing free language learning courses for every known living language. Xefjord was driven to start this project because he believes that every culture is inherently valuable and important to our humanity and global well being, and that languages are the gateway towards preserving and promoting those cultures.
Because of its popularity, ease of use, and open source nature Xefjord decided to create all his courses on the digital flashcard program Anki. These courses were created with the purpose of giving learners a survival level introduction to their language of choice while also granting them the tools to continue learning with and expanding upon the functionality of Anki afterwards.
There is only one option for learning Greek.
This Greek course teaches standard Greek as one might hear in Greece.
