Before you begin

Designed for learners who can already read hiragana and katakana and have a foundation in basic Japanese. Anki software is installed or purchased separately. Cards use Anki’s reveal-and-rate format, not automatic spelling tests; more than one Japanese word can fit an English cue. Word recordings are not sentence narration, and some entries have no recording. You can turn off automatic playback when you want to recall before hearing a hint.

This is an independent vocabulary resource to use alongside grammar, reading, and listening practice. It is not an official JLPT list or a guarantee of exam coverage. Pitch numbers are included as source reference notes, not as a verified pitch-accent course.

Audio note: 描く (えがく / かく) and 解く (とく / ほどく) each share one recording across their two reading entries; separate recordings for both readings are not included.
